In a thrilling climax to the 2007-8 TFLRec League season, the THC won their first-ever championship last night, with a 6-4 triumph over the Steagle Colbeagles to take the best-of-five series 3-1.
As usual, THC relied on the offensive prowess of Finnish import Iikka Jokinen and the clutch goaltending of Sam Garrison in earning the win. Leading 2-1 after two periods, the Melts got two quick goals early in the third by Benedig and Tony Phung to go up 4-1 and appeared set to cruise to victory. However, the Colbeagles roared back with three goals in a 4:08 span to tie the game at 4-4 to create some drama as the game wound down.
